Let’s Make Bows!

As promised, here is a tutorial for how I make bows.

Here is the bow we will be making.

First, cut 3 pieces of fabric.  a 6″x6″ square, a 5″x5″ square and a 2.5″x3.5″ rectangle

Next, fold each piece in half – fold the rectangle long-ways – and stitch with a 1/2″ seam allowance.  On the two squares, stop and backstitch near the middle, skip a space, backstitch and continue to the end.  This will provide a hole through which to pull the fabric right-side-out.

Take the two squares and press the seam allowance open in the center of the piece as shown below.

Stitch the ends closed with 1/2″ seam allowance and clip the corners.

Now, turn all three pieces right-side-out!

Arrange the two “square” pieces with the smaller piece halfway over the larger piece, as shown below.

Pinch the two pieces together in three parts, as shown below, and wrap the tube piece around the center.

On the backside, fold the tube piece under and then place over the raw edge of the other side of the band and pin in place.  Slip stitch or whip stitch closed.
