I was recently commissioned to make a Princess Tutu inspired JSK and the outcome was BEAUTIFUL!
The client had been looking for a JSK that was simple, sweet and cute but everything had too many bows, frills and ruffles for what she wanted. So I gave her several ideas and designs and narrowed down exactly what it was she wanted. I mocked it up, shopped fabric and then voila!
It is fully lined and the bottom ruffle hangs from the lining rather than sewn to the bottom of the skirt. It is really simple over all with carefully chosen moments and details. I feel like it is very old school in the best of ways; just good, old Lolita. No distractions just adorable, sweet, simplicity and that classic silhouette.
The back has shirring that allows for the garment to have a perfect fit, despite body changes and a shiny, pink ribbon to add a little elegance. The waist ties are detachable with cute, little, rose buttons that blend in with the fabric but when noticed are a perfect accent. The waist ties are also faced with pink fabric to add just a dash of color.
The JSK has simple, soft lace that trims the neck edge of the bodice with a little pink ribbon to dress it up. The same lace is layered over a ruffle on the shoulder strap to add a little bit of princess flare. Also, there is a side zipper to allow for easy on and easy off, with a perfect fit everytime!
I had so much fun making this dress; I hope you are able to read my excitement at all of the details! AH! Sewing is the best!
